Curbell’s 2016 United Way campaign was a success thanks to our employees’ generous contributions. Time and time again, we are impressed by our employees’ passion to give back to our community. There are many reasons why a person may choose to donate to United Way. David Bourne, Sr. Credit & Collections Manager at Curbell, shared his reason for giving back.

Dave’s Story:

“United Way gives me the opportunity to donate to a favorite service in my home town community.  The East Aurora Boy’s and Girls Club is where I have chosen to donate to via the United Way.  I was on the Board of Directors for the Club for about 6-7 years.  My wife and I, as young kids, were members and participated heavily in all the programs they offered.  It helped build a strong foundation for my wife and I to build on early in our lives and has done the same for countless people over the decades.

All 3 of our kids have been members from the time they were 7 years old through 18 and still participate in different activities into their Twenties.  They offer athletics, scholastic endeavors, arts, dance, summer camps, historical trips, nature trips, drug and alcohol awareness and numerous other endeavors to the East Aurora and surrounding community.  I am still friends with numerous people I grew up with in and around the Boy’s & Girls Club from 1972 to present.  It has created bonds that are never broken.

Any way we can give back with time and or money, our family does.  It is a wonderful organization and I wish every town in this area could have something like this. The United Way is the perfect way to assist in our family’s donation efforts.”
