Our very own Doug Rockwood, Executive VP of Sales and Customer Service, participated in Buffalo’s Ride for Roswell. Like many others locally, Doug has participated in the event a number of times.
“This is much more than a bike ride for me — it’s my commitment to the fight to end cancer,” said Doug. “Cancer has become a bit too close to our family, as we have lost a number of dear friends and family to the dreadful disease. As early as one month ago, I lost a family member to pancreatic cancer, a battle that was fought with admirable courage for four years, but a battle that was eventually lost. The reason for riding in The Ride For Roswell is pretty simple for me: it’s a great cause, it’s an opportunity to gather with family and friends, and it’s an opportunity to challenge myself physically. There have been a number of times that, while riding along, I wanted to stop because I was tired and/or sore. But when I think about the pain/discomfort of cancer, and what cancer has done to friends/family, my temporary discomfort goes away pretty quickly.”
The Ride For Roswell Makes a Difference.
The funds raised from The Ride For Roswell go directly to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that manages all donations to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. These funds help support the cutting-edge cancer research and a full range of patient-care programs offered at Roswell Park. From researchers and physicians to patients and their families, everyone who joins in The Ride For Roswell is working together to reach a common goal: curing cancer.
